Ben Mather, LPC-IT
(he/him/his)
Ben is a licensed professional counselor in training with a warm, relational approach focused on creating authentic, collaborative relationships with clients. He prioritizes fostering healthy connections, identifying client values, and learning how each client’s unique lived experiences shape their world. Ben recognizes the impact of systemic trauma on mental health for individuals holding marginalized identities, and he believes that effective therapeutic work must address those issues. As a queer trans man himself, Ben is passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and providing them with a safe and affirming space.
Ben earned his masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Oklahoma. He has experience helping clients struggling with eating disorders, depressive disorders, trauma, chronic and acute suicidality, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. Ben focused his graduate studies on the treatment of eating disorders and common comorbid disorders. He has been a volunteer in ANAD’s mentorship program since 2023, and works with mentees beginning their journey toward eating disorder recovery.
Ben believes in tailoring therapeutic approaches to each client. He incorporates various modalities, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT).
