Kortney Karnok, APSW
(she/her/hers)
Kortney has a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Kortney is pursuing her license in clinical social work (LCSW) credentialing and specializing in eating disorders through supervision at Edelweiss. Kortney practices with a blend of CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing interventions. Kortney’s own personal struggle with eating disorders spanned many years of her life and directly influenced her educational and career paths, which include a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology from the University of Georgia and an associate degree in culinary arts from the Art Institutes of Atlanta. After several years in the corporate food industry--where she literally worked in a cookie and cake factory at one point--she changed trajectories to the world of fitness and health as an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer, CrossFit and weightlifting coach with a special interest in nutrition.
After witnessing the harmful impact of diet and fitness culture on herself and so many of her clients, Kortney’s own eating disorder recovery and healing came after years of learning and applying an anti-diet, body-acceptance approach to health and wellness. Kortney’s passion transformed into coaching others to repair their messy relationships with food, body, and exercise obsession through an Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size-informed framework as a body image and certified Intuitive Eating counselor, speaker, writer, activist, and body inclusive personal trainer and coach.
