Melissa has worked extensively with tobacco addiction while working at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester. She used motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies to assist clients moving through the stages of change. During this time, she was motivated to assist clients with a broader range of mental health issues and began working towards that goal.

Melissa attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis and received a Master of Social Work degree with an emphasis in clinical social work. She interned at Ramsey County Mental Health in St. Paul where she served clients with depression, anxiety and psychotic disorders in individual and group settings.

Melissa has a special interest in working with individuals with eating disorders, addiction and anxiety disorders, and has a deep compassion for anyone battling mental health struggles. She believes that all people have a story and the capacity to heal and grow through the mental health struggles with which they are faced and has an earnest desire to facilitate that process. She fosters a safe and non-judgmental space for all clients to process and heal.
