What made you decide to go into this specialty?
I have been interested for as long as I can remember in how body image impacts esteem and how body ideals have been created and sustained over time. I have known many friends and family members that have struggled, and continue to struggle, with the enmeshment of body image and self-worth and the desire to lose weight to feel good about themselves, and it is heart wrenching to see and hear this disconnect from the truth. I feel incredibly passionate about helping others challenge diet culture messages and work to accept our bodies and ourselves exactly as we are to help improve overall mental health and quality of life.
